In this life, we are faced with temptations; we have cares and burdens.  No one is immune to these facts of life.  Whether we are happy or borne down with sorrows depends upon our outlook on life.  If we try to carry our burdens and cares alone, life cannot be very pleasant, but how much brighter the world looks if we will put our faith and trust in God, and look to Him for the help that we need.  I Peter 5:7 tells us, “Casting all your cares upon Him; for he careth for you.”  Why cannot we take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there?  He has promised that he will take care of us.  He promises in Matt. 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”  He had just been talking about the needs of this life, food, clothing, and shelter; and what more do we need?  If God has promised these things if we will put Him first in our lives, then why worry about anything else.  If you want to be happy, first learn to be content with the needs of life, then take your troubles to the Lord and leave them there.  There are things in this life that we cannot possibly change; there is no need to worry about these.  There are some things that do not need to be changed; let us recognize these and live with them.  And, there are some things that we can change if we will only try; let us recognize these, change them and be happy.  Let me give you an example or two.  You cannot possibly change the things of nature that have been set in motion.  You and I have no control over how hot it is; how cold it might be; whether it is raining or snowing.  Learn to cope with these!  You cannot change the fact that Satan is going to tempt you, but this does not need changing.  How else will you be tried to make sure that you are fit material for heaven?  But, you can change your outlook on life; you can change your attitude toward those who mistreat you, or perhaps even those who love you.  Why not spend some time changing these and be happy.

God has promised all the help that we need in living the Christian life.  Why not look to him and to his word for this help and guidance.  Let me encourage you to spend your time in His service, and see if yours is not a better, fuller, and richer life.
