†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† BE YE READY††††
††††††††† There are some things that must be done at a particular time, or they
can never be done.† For example, if you do not carry insurance and you have an accident, you cannot call your insurance agent, get a policy and make a†††††† claim.† Insurance companies just do not operate that way.
††††††††† Preparing for eternity is much like that.† If you are to be admitted to heaven, you must make preparations before you arrive.† It is a little late to wait until judgment day to begin preparing for eternity.† God gives us a life time to make the preparations.† However, since we have a whole life time, a great many people want to wait until most of their life is gone before beginning their preparations.† That would be somewhat logical if we could know exactly when we are about to die.† Of course, whenever we begin to grow old, we know that time is not as long as it once was, but those who are young cannot know that they will live to be old.† The real danger is that we cannot know when God is going to require our life and a reckoning.† Even though we cannot know this exact time, many people go through life gambling with their souls.† A great many people will believe almost anything in religions.† People are rather gullible.† There are those who say that you can wait until you are on your deathbed to call on God, just ask him to save you, and all will be well and God will receive your soul.† That approach is about as wise as buying pain pills from the quack doctor who guaranteed his pills to prevent any and all pains.† All you have to do, he said, is to take one pill exactly thirty minutes before the pain starts.† He always had an alibi when the pain persisted because if you had pain, then you did not take the pill at the right time.
††††††† Can you be sure that you can wait, ignore God while you are well, then call on him at the exact right time?† The natural results of sin is eternal destruction in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone.† (Matt. 25:46; Rev. 19:20).† However, God has promised that we can avoid this penalty if we will obey the gospel of Christ and live a faithful Christian life.† This preparation, however, must be made while we live.† We cannot wait until we stand before Christ on the day of judgment.† Are you willing to gamble with your eternal soul by going through life carelessly, giving God little, if any, service?† Are you willing to bet your eternal soul that God will let you into heaven even though you ignore him during your whole life time?† The stakes are pretty high.† But, why gamble at all when there is a safe course that you may pursue?† Be ready by obeying Godís instructions for we know not when the Lord will come! (Matt. 24:36).
